The digital hat
The Hat Draw is a free random name picker for classrooms, team picks, birthday drawings, PTA nights, church socials and office door prizes. Paste names or ticket numbers, choose how many winners you need, and draw.
Every entry gets an equal chance. The browser uses its cryptographic random source with a Fisher–Yates shuffle. The selection happens locally and never uses a server-side list.

Yes. Turn on “Build suspense: reveal last place first.” Names are drawn one at a time from the bottom place up, so 1st place is revealed last. The list always reads from 1st down.
Not from a single entry. Each name drawn leaves the hat, and Draw Next Name reshuffles only the names that are left. A person can only win again if their name was entered more than once and duplicates were kept.
Hundreds or thousands are fine. Paste one per line, or separate them with commas or semicolons. The counter shows how many entries are in the hat before you draw.
Yes. Enter numbers like “0412” or combine them, like “0412 Jordan H.”, so you can read the number first and check it against the stub.
Your title, list, options and any winners already drawn are saved in this browser’s local storage, so a refresh will not lose them. Press Start over to clear everything.
No. The Hat Draw only picks names from a list you provide. It does not sell tickets or handle money. If you run a paid raffle, local rules apply; see our raffle legal basics guide.
Yes. Print produces a winner sheet with the title and every place, continuing onto extra pages for long lists.
