Privacy policy
What this site keeps, what it does not, and how third parties such as Google fit in.
The Hat Draw (thehatdraw.com) is a client-side random-draw tool operated from Indiana, United States. This policy explains what information is involved when you use it.
Names and entries you type
Names, ticket numbers and event titles you enter stay in your browser. The draw runs on your device and the entry list is not uploaded to our server. To survive an accidental refresh, the page stores a draft of your title, entries, options and drawn winners in your browser’s localStorage on that device. We cannot see it. Press Start over or clear site data for thehatdraw.com to remove it.
Share links
A results link contains the event title, the reverse-reveal setting and the winners with their places, encoded after the # in the URL. It does not contain the full entry list. Anyone you give the link to can see those winners. The part after # is not sent to the server when the page loads.
No accounts, no sale of data
There are no accounts or logins. We do not sell personal information.
Analytics and hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate visit counts; it does not use cookies to track you across sites.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads on some pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. For more, see how Google uses cookies in advertising and Google’s Privacy Policy. Where required, such as in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google may ask for your consent before using cookies for personalized ads.
Ads and ad vendors do not receive the names you enter into the draw.
Ko-fi tips
Optional tips go through Ko-fi at ko-fi.com/dmloew. Ko-fi is a separate service and its own privacy policy applies there.

The site is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Teachers using it in class should enter first names only.
